LONGITUDE


In conjuction with this years ISTD brief, I set out to explore the theme of Migration. As an international student, I thought I had a unique perspective to share, and stories to tell regarding my family’s heritage and migration history. I depicted my cultural background in the form of a typographic map, showing the journeys and experiences that different parts of my family have endured.


I also experimented with the chinese language, something that would seemingly be familiar to me but is so foreign. When english speaking viewers look at the map, they are looking at a perspective that mirrors how I feel towards my heritage.
